The application hangs when run with --help

When I run kolibri-gnome --help, the application correctly prints help text, but it also initializes Kolibri and spawns several processes which continue running after it exits. The application enters a similar state if it is unable to claim its dbus name.
There was an attempt to solve this in #77, but it broke some other things and needed to be reverted.
