is there a fix to this? i'm having the same issue

I cannot reproduce this issue (though I do not have Mac). Could you please show the HTML code of an example card (and template) for which you observe the issue? Maybe I could find some clue in this. To get the HTML press ctrl + shift + x in the field with the image (though it may be different on Mac, check the "hamburger menu for an alternative button) + the contents from fields in "Cards..." button (both in the edition mode of a card).

@ak-hash if you respond by e-mail the attachment are lost and not uploaded to GitHub (nor visible in the e-mail). If you use a pre-made deck, could you just provide its name and a link to the download page on Anki website?

I cannot find the card for which you sent the screenshot in the linked Lightyear deck; does it belong to this deck. Also, I cannot see any pictures in the Lightyear (neither on the shared deck page that you linked nor in the downloaded and imported deck) for some reason - there is just a "missing image" message :(

sorry, i renamed my decks and forgot which link was the right one, the deck with the picture is from another student... https://drive.google.com/file/d/1MJ9HKWIeX8WRPGdsiLYZBBdXxXxyGxZF/view
hopefully i got the right deck this time :)
