Can/will be BHT-002-G*LZB (Zigbee) versions be supported?

It is always great to have FOSS firmware instead of a closed one!
But unfortunately seems that Zigbee version of BHT-002-G is not supported by current version of software.
Is the MCU of zigbee is the same as for WiFi? Is there ESP8266 processor?
If yes then it should be possible to add code to support Zigbee protocol.
