Use on Buster without disabling irq

Disabling interrupts via dtoverlay=gpio-no-irq in order to prevent rpio edge detection events from hanging the pi running Buster also disables other hardware devices, such as the PICAN2 CAN bus hat I need. Is there anyway to have both rpio and the PICAN2 hat working at the same time?
