Freeze at Joan of Arc: The Siege & The Sword

Describe the bug
The game freezes solidly instead of the beginning of the battle.
Steps to reproduce the behaviour
- Download game
For example here https://www.myabandonware.com/game/joan-of-arc-siege-the-sword-ok
Or here https://archive.org/details/msdos_Joan_of_Arc_-_Siege_and_the_Sword_1989 - Start game
- Skip intro (just clicking)
- Go to the map
- Click on the bottom half of the france lily scroll
- Select 7) starting a campaign
if the game prompts you to choose a strategy, choose relocate then - Click on the nearest province with red flag (enemy army)
- Game freezes
