prefers-contrast option not working

Hello :) I wanted to raise an issue or perhaps just get a nudge in the right direction if I'm missing some set up.
I have a project in Next (v13.0.3) running with React (v18.2.0) and styling in Tailwind (v3.2.1). When running Storybook, I'm able to use this to switch between dark and light mode on components, but the prefers-contrast option does nothing. Is this a side effect of React 18 or something else? Thank you in advance for any guidance / updates 😄
