sessions not saving in session tree after exit

Describe the bug
any changes I make to my session tree are not saved after I exit the program. this is similar to issue "Super Putty does not save session changes on exit #513", though my changes are never saved, even if I keep the program open for hours after making the changes. I was able to save to the session tree at first, as there are about 50 sessions w folders, though at some point it stopped saving, and upon restart it always comes back to the same state.
