Disable split when Staged/Unstaged is empty

It would be nice to disable the split view of unstage/staged changes preview when there is nothing to view in one of the splits, so that I can instead have a better view of the changes.
Your thoughts
I have not been able to find a way to configure like this or similar questions. Is there such a feature today or should I make this a feature request?
Just found out that I can scroll up and down in the diff-view with ctrl+u and ctrl+d while focusing on the "files" window. This is good enough for me.
