Hi,
Can this be packaged as a plugin that I can just drop into my /home/ninja/.config/obs-studio/plugins/ folder?

Yes this suggestion has been made here. I do plan to do this, but I've been pretty busy recently and haven't gotten around to it yet. I will update the most recent release with this change when I get the chance
