Adding a + and - button for zoom functionality in map view

Would like a +/ - zoom in and zoom out button pair so zooming can be accomplished a different way besides using mouse wheel.
Would also like a compass so user can re-orient North as needed (Google-Earth style).
+1 think aloud participant today wanted this (± zoom on right side of map interface AND a re-orient north button)
