Insufficient contrast between visited and unvisited links

UI can be improved by increasing the contrast between visited and unvisited links whether by more prominent change in color or other visual indication.
@indrekpaas Is there an audit tool you were using to test this or specific contrast changes you're suggesting? cc @robdodson just in case he has suggestions too (with respect to https://react-hn.appspot.com).
@addyosmani the contrast itself seems to meet WCAG AA (http://leaverou.github.io/contrast-ratio/#%23666-on-%23F5F5F5) but if it's more a UX complaint I think that could be valid.
