influxdata / flux

Flux is a lightweight scripting language for querying databases (like InfluxDB) and working with data. It's part of InfluxDB 1.7 and 2.0, but can be run independently of those.

Based on this tweet by paul dix there seems to be little hope here in the light of InfluxDB 3.0 but I personally still believe in Flux and in a bright future for such a masterful work of art. Like me many fail to see how Flight SQL could bring even a fraction of Flux's potential to the game.

We use and love Flux and I would love for our community to try challenge its fate by continuing to evolve it further to keep up with times, for example by adding contribs for reading parquet files via http client and potentially read/write with a first class s3 client for larger files in an effort to retain stand-alone compatibility with the new formats for a fighting chance against obsoletion.

Was any of this planned and/or perhaps compatible with existing efforts we might help continue?
Would the anyone in the Flux core team be open cooperating on this proposal and working on it with the community?

Thanks in advance and long live Flux!
