Run this without flatpack?

Is there any way to run this without installing flatpack? How about building from code? Anything would help -- I can't put flatpack on my system because security matters and flatpack is the opposite of that, but I 'd really like to have a look at this project.

I would greatly appreciate alternative installation methods as well. I use and have evaluated a lot of apps and libraries on Linux, and this is the first time I've ever been forced to install flatpak to use something. I like flatpak conceptually, however, and I wish it were more popular.
