Updating the library

[amoltx]

This library has not been updated in many years.
We are using this library and code scanners required by customers give errors as the library has not been updated in many years.
Would it be acceptable if I make a pull request that just updates a comment so as to "touch" the code?
I know this is lame but thought of asking anyway.

updated, i'll also add a go.mod to bring this up to modern go standards
