Gmail invite doesn't render German characters correctly

I'm creating an ICS fiile with German letters in the subject and description, however they do not render correctly in the Gmail invite. Is there a way to fix this aside from replacing each character with its HTML code?

Unfortunately, we can't help you without being able to reproduce the problem. See here for guidelines on how to make this reproducible for us. Note that while the guide talks about code, in this case this probably also includes an ics file that should be part of your question. And please keep in mind that people that maintain software tend to have only limited time available to fix issues. So while I could open up a Google Account for reproducing this, actually having to do that greatly reduces the likelyhood of me finding the time to work on this. So please also document how that part of the issue looks like.
