Conversations can't connect over BlueVPN

I share cellular data from a Symbian smartphone over Bluetooth and use BlueVPN as a receiving client on the target device. During the blackouts, the BSs of the home operator are down, and national roaming doesn't work with the SIM installed in this device for some reason, so it's out of service.
Other apps connect well this way, but Conversations refuses to, presumably because it sees neither cellular data nor Wi-Fi and assumes there are no ways to connect.
Which other open source apps connect ok?
Element, Fennec, FluffyChat, Telegram, NewPipe.
Can you translate the message?
Can you capture a logcat of the moment the network switches?

Would be difficult; my x86 notebook doesn't last long from battery, and I couldn't find and ARM build of adb yet.
Can you share a link to this bluevpn thing?

I downloaded the APK many years ago, probably from 4PDA.
