en passant doesn't capture piece

Describe the bug
en passant move appears as option, along with red highlight, indicating it is a capturing move. However the captured piece is not removed from the board and can continue to play in the game. The uncaptured piece can capture other pieces and promote.
To Reproduce
Attempt to en passant as either black or white.
If applicable, post move log/sequence of moves that produces bug:
E4 A6, E5 D5, x D6
Expected behavior
White pawn on E5 should capture black pawn on D5
