devices list empty in node configuration

hello, i've followed the instructions and successfully created account, added devices, linked to google home (yes i can see the devices in google home), and installed the nodered nodes.
when configuring the node, it shows 'connected' after I put the account name and password in but the devices drop list is always empty no matter what i do. the refresh icon next to devices list appears solid black and not clickable. tried rebooting node-red, reinstalling this node but still the same.
any idea what could go wrong? thanks.
figured out the cause - the semicolon in my password. choosing a password containing only characters and numbers fixed the problem.
