New user registration - Empty form values are saved

[Google Code Exporter]

The New User registration Servlet stores empty form values inside LDAP. 
Confirmed this behaviour with version 1.7.1

1) Testscenario: put an optional field in the form
2) Fill in the new user registration form, leaving the optional field emtpy
3) Result is that the underlying attribute of the optional empty field is 
populated
