levels of homes:

  1. assuming @silky will desire terminal action, and that's easiest, so do this first
  2. next, rumps looks like an easy way to get a status bar app in osx
  3. kivy might be cool for a cross-platform option
  4. though for an ios-only app, swift is new and exciting...
