there're few cases where X fail to start.
is there a way we tell X to try using vesa or fbdev to startx?

This issue seems to have been unnoticed in the team, sorry for not responding earlier.
FTR: this should be possible via grml-x --module vesa openbox as documented in grml-x manpage. :)
