Why do the 3.11.x versions steal focus?

I mentioned this issue in an earlier issue query, but I was able to grab a screenshot of what's happening this time.
The problem that I'm having is that,.when Gpodder updates and finds available podcasts, it very briefly opens a window as shown in the screenshot below, stealing focus from other windows.
I find this behavior very annoying, especially if I'm in another windows editing audio or video.
Can something be done to switch off this behavior?
