Coordinate Viewer: user beware

The Coordinate Viewer works fine if my last saved position is a space station. Otherwise, it's inconsistent. Oh, it takes me to the right galaxy/system all right, but there's a problem. If my last saved position is, say, a planet surface, then when I use Coordinate Viewer to change location, as soon as I enter the game I will find myself in deep space, outside of my ship, losing life support rapidly.
