It could be useful to break installed technologies in the Exosuit, Ship, Multitool, etc - related to enabling types of "Role-Playing" in the game.
You can add broken items through the ADD ITEM function.

It's not about adding broken items, it's breaking installed components so that they need repair, such as your Life Support as attached.
