What does the download slider even do?

I've tested it and it seems to be non-functional, what is this supposed to do, can it be removed?

Turning that switch on will copy the audio file to Cozy's offline cache directory.
This is useful for audio books that are loaded from e.g. a network drive, so the drive can be detached after the file has been downloaded. The switch should only show up for audio books that are marked as "external" in the preferences panel.
External directories are marked with this icon:

Seems like the UX is not very clear. You're right I thought I build a feature where the download switch is only displayed if you're using an external drive or network drive but maybe that isn't working in all cases correctly.

It does seem to work, but every storage location is marked as a network drive by default. And apart from the toggle button not being very apparent, I think it's not so well known that such feature even exists.
Personally I would remove the switch, and add a meatball (ellipsis) menu instead with a checkbutton to toggle the download.
