.pcircle directory not always removed

I'm running fprof jobs through the Slurm batch scheduler and even when a job runs to completion, it leaves an empty .pcircle work directory, such as ".pcircle2017.07.21.085705". Can these directories be removed automatically or is there a hidden problem preventing their removal?
