game strategy - overbuild smelters to reduce ores sent to Castle/Stock

tlongstretch opened this issue · comments

Because it is so inefficient to have mined resources sent all the way to the castle and then have to be pulled back out again, it seems worth building extra gold and steel smelters just to avoid them filling up and their incoming resources being redirected to storage, because even if they are usually not working at full capacity it is much better than clogging the castle/roads

think of them as mini-warehouses!

manual control of warehouses - what can and cannot be stored?

separate options for each warehouse - after pressing the raw material icon - enable / disable delivery / store only this raw material

force this resource to be removed from the warehouse (regardless of the delivery options in the game panel)

I have been thinking about this also. It is a fine balance where allowing too much direct control would break a lot of the feel of the game, but you end up working around the limited control in gimmicky ways and it sort of defeats the whole purpose of the control style. For example I have the AI destroy resource producing buildings just to avoid clogging roads up, which seems silly, but never having to manage road congestion would also eliminate part of the game's core fun. I'm going to keep trying things and make optional features and see what is most fun.
