Describe the bug

The workaround for neovim/neovim#20463 no longer works on nightly.

Possibly related to:

Steps To Reproduce

perform a substitute of a word that is on the visible portion of the screen like %s/fun/bar.

Expected Behavior

The full %s/fun/bar should appear, but cmdline stops rendering after %s/fun.
