New FIP: FIO growth functionality

Motivation

The primary motivation for this FIP is to add new functionality, which will stimulate the growth of the FIO Protocol, specifically:

  • Increase number of wallets integrating FIO
  • Increase number of user registering FIO Domains and FIO Addresses
  • Increase number of user utilizing the FIO Protocol functionality (FIO Request, FIO Data, etc.)

What exists today:

TPID

Technology Provider ID - any integrator can specify their own FIO Address as TPID on most transactions which collect a fee. If they do:

  • They will immediately receive 10% of the fee collected
  • Until limits reached, they will also receive a bonus of 40% of the fee collected in newly minted tokens

What has been discussed so far:

Registration Origination Bounty

  • The TPID which was passed in on the original FIO Address registration would continue to receive 5% (which would come from BP fee share) of any renewal fee paid for that address in the future, even if different TPID was passed in on renewal.
  • Until limits reached, a bonus in newly minted tokens could also be added

Motivation

Would incentivize community participants to facilitate the initial address registration, as there would be a perpetual source of income.

Premium FIO Address

  • This functionality would allow a domain owner to specify a higher fee (as percentage of base fee) for FIO Addresses on their domain. That amount would be transferred to the domain owner.

Motivation

This idea would allow a domain owner to create additional value for users holding addresses on their domains and charge a premium for it. Example: users with addresses on domain vip would receive a discount when shopping on Amazon.com.

Referral program

  • Unspecified functionality which rewards one user for enabling another user to join the FIO Protocol.

Incentivizing FIO Members for initial integration

Prior to Mainnet launch FIO Members were granted locked tokens which unlock after they launch FIO Protocol integration. What should be the strategy for FIO Members going forward?

Incentivize users to use FIO

Unspecified functionality which rewards users for using FIO Protocol functionality (FIO Request, FIO Data, etc.)

Domain Leasing

Details in Issue 44

I think this is a flavor of Premium FIO Address except there is no expectation of added value.

Motivation

Domain owners view their domain as valuable assets and would prefer not to sell. Leasing feature would lead to longer participation of both the lessor and the lessee in the industry.
