I don't notice any difference on either games

I've copied the two files into the location of the exe-files, tried with default settings as well as various tweaks in the vrperfkit too. I've tried it with 3 games; Fallout 4 VR, Skyrim VR and Valheim. I just don't notice any difference at all. I read people praising this all over, but I don't get this to work and I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. I followed the very simple install instructions and I do get the log on all 3 games, it looks ok and well, but I just don't see any difference in-game. I use oculus tray tool to measure fps, but no difference there either.
Am I supposed to run my games through oculus runtime because I have the Rift? Is that it..?
I've only ran my Steam games through Steam. I don't know, I'm just reaching here.
