New 0.7.x web page

rolyp opened this issue · comments

  • New top-level URL f.luid.org/0.6.x/, with a snapshot of current release version for posterity
  • New 0.7.x release on front page (can we build this with RevealJS?)
  • Surrounding narrative explaining goals of project
  • Break out each top-level example into its own page? (less text/more interactions)
  • Current and past contributors
  • Standardise font, colours, think about logo

@RaoOfPhysics Should we think about using Reveal to author this page?

It’s not a bad idea but I have some reservations. At some stage, as Fluid’s documentation starts being built up, the home page will have to serve three kinds of purposes:

  1. A brief (interactive) intro to Fluid, with maybe one example.
  2. Documentation!
  3. A showcase of examples. This can be tied to documentation, of course. But this last one is the most obvious case for using a presentation format.

Font-wise, I like how distill.pub looks on my Mac. Chrome describes the rendered font as

Family name: .SF NS
PostScript name: .SFNS-Regular_wdth_opsz110000_GRAD_wght

which Reddit claims is Lucida Grande.

Let’s dovetail as much of this issue with explorable-viz/fluid-examples#36 as possible. For example, let’s aim to have any examples we want to use at the Summer School hosted on the website, and maybe we can use the website to introduce the project/collaborators etc too.

This will also help with explorable-viz/research-strategy#95 and other proposals as the website will have more up-to-date examples/project goals/project background.
