Citibank not returning valid OFX?

peytons opened this issue · comments

Hello,

I am unable to retrieve valid OFX data from my Citibank account. I'll attach a gist here to show what parameters I'm using and the OFX I do get back.

Here's the gist showing the parameters I used (minus my personal details) and the resulting OFX. It looks like Citibank wants me to sign up for something. Is it possible I can't get my OFX data this way?

Do you currently have direct banking enabled with your citibank account?

The return date is properly formed but I think the connection params may be wrong.
The response is properly parsed though and the request is being sent properly as far as i can see.

I'm not sure I do have direct banking enabled.

Which connection param(s) do you think are wrong?

I was hoping to be able to use this to easily pull the OFX for any (U.S.)
bank account, but it seems like the banks might make it more complicated
than that .. like if all Citibank accounts need direct banking enabled (and
it isn't usually). Does that sound right?

Some banks charge for direct access or they make you enable it if you choose to use it. Most do not enable it by default for security reason.

Some banks even charge a fee to use it. Such as my chase account charges 5 dollars a month to use it even if I connect with an app like quickbooks.
