Use Internet time

What is "internet time"? I like your implementation, it coincides with mine here in Python. However, I chose the 1970-01-01 00:00:00 UTC as a starting point, and coinciding with 0-year 0000-01-01 00:00:0.00000. In a sense, the birth of Unix time is a close approximation the birth of the future "Silicon life" out of the "Carbon life", that we seem to be observing, so, not just culturally, but geologically significant. :) Do you have a starting point, or just take care of the time part only (excluding the dates)?
