Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
There is no visible difference between the latest snapshot edition and the latest release.
Both identify as e.g. 2.28.0.
Describe the solution you'd like
Change the way of working so that snapshots identify as e.g. 2.29.0-snapshot (always the next version number) and releases as 2.28.0-release (or still simply as 2.28.0).
