Pressing Back button (Xbox controller) on ship switches to free-floating camera, unable to exit

It's entirely possible I'm missing something but I've had this issue twice now; if I hit the "back" button on my Xbox controller while on the world map/on the ship, the game switches to a sort of "direct the camera" mode, which I'm unable to exit out of; all other buttons stop working, and I have to force-close the game through Windows.
