Add test(s) to make sure incomplete requests are handled properly

Don’t let #33 happen again.
I will do my best. I punted on this initially because it seemed hard. Taking a quick stab at it proves that it's not simple. When some time frees up I'll do my best to figure out how to trigger it deterministically.
