Another (potential) user encountering version Warning on "selfcheck"

I performed the following steps exactly - thinking I was following the README correctly.

git clone https://github.com/ecmwf/eccodes-python.git
cd eccodes-python
git checkout master (based on the developer's reply to an issue from a year prior)

pip install -e .
python -m eccodes selfcheck

Warning: ecCodes 2.20.0 or higher is recommended. You are running version 2.12.3

Can you please advise a solution?

I suggest you upgrade to the latest ecCodes which is v2.20.0
