Created colorscheme is made up of default colors (MacOS)

I'm on Monterey 12.5.1, installed pywal per the guide's instructions. I tried using both colorz and imagemagick as the backends, with equal results: the resulting colorscheme is literally just the default one. Tried with different images too, with the same result. There's no errors during the generation either.

EDIT: using colorz on its own creates the correct colorscheme
