Describe the bug
I have a piece of code that gives "The type or namespace DotNetStreamReference could not be found". It looks nearly identical to the code given as a working example in #39603, so I don't know what the problem is.

Hi @Gooberpatrol66, thanks for reaching out. The Target Framework in your csproj is .NET 5. Streaming was only introduced in .NET 6. You'll have to upgrade your project to .NET 6 to use this feature.
My actual app targets net6.0-windows, but the reproduction app won't build with that target because "the current .net sdk does not support targeting .net 6.0". I don't know why one works and not the other.

There may be a global.json somewhere enforcing a 5.0 SDK. You can try dotnet new globaljson -sdk-version 6.0.301
