basic configuration

would it be possible to add a little more to the example configuration?
I haven't been using emacs long enough to be able to pull a default config just from reading the elisp code 🙂

I am able to start it, but I keep getting the following error:
Error running timer ‘org-notifications--get-events’: (wrong-type-argument fixnump nil)

I'm not sure what I'm missing as the provided example has very basic setup. any help would be greatly appreciated.
