Leeching off open-source developers

I clicked the "promise to continue to listen to community feedback. " link from here:-

After attempting to automate an open-source build process... and discovering that you want to charge us for making our open source projects higher-quality.

Go back you your "open source communities." tab on your pricing page: https://www.docker.com/pricing/ and have a long hard look at all the things you think we - THE PEOPLE WHO WRITE THE SOFTWARE YOU ARE MAKING MONEY FROM - should be paying you to use...

If you don't want personal users to have features, make a new plan for open-source projects that excludes personal users... do not lump us in with tinkering hobbyists!

Hi @gitcnd - you may have missed that we have a program for open source projects that includes a free Team subscription. You can apply here: https://www.docker.com/community/open-source/application/

You mentioned the build process so I'll point out that this plan includes 15 concurrent builds along with vulnerability scanning.

If this doesn't meet your needs, we're always open to feedback. As you can see from the blog post you linked, we try to listen and adjust.

Cool - thanks. It's pretty easy to miss... there's no link I can find to that page?

It would be worth making a mention or putting a link on your pricing page: right now, your pricing already does cover "open source" with the aforementioned slap in our faces, and no mention of any application process... not to mention - nobody goes looking for something different, after they've already been told it doesn't exist - right?

there's no link I can find to that page?

It's further down the pricing page, I'll suggest that the team responsible make it more obvious:

The blog post you linked also links out to another blog post specifically on the program: https://www.docker.com/blog/docker-sponsored-open-source-program-has-a-new-look/

Can you clarify which part of the pricing page appears to be a "slap in our faces"? That's definitely not the desired effect, and hopefully an opportunity for improvement.

Your page already tells us here:-

that "open source communities" do not qualify for a pile of things (see the table) because we're lumped into the "personal" plan.

You need to move that advertising afterthought at the end of the page into the top where it says "plans"

Appreciate the feedback, we could definitely be more clear about the availability of the open source offering. I'll pass along the message.
