Not sure if v1.8 is going to be the new LTS or not: https://discourse.julialang.org/t/new-julia-lts-are-many-using-the-current-julia-1-6-lts/93919/8

(maybe it's best not to remove the 1.8 series yet)

Oh great link, thank you! I think it might still make sense to remove for now, and revisit if/when the future of 1.8 is decided for sure (so that we mirror https://julialang.org/downloads/ accurately, which now has no mention of 1.8 except in "older releases"). I'll get a PR up ASAP. 👍

(There are no plans to make 1.8 LTS. There have been (vague) discussions to make 1.10 LTS, but no concrete plans.)
