For the newbie who want to use it, sbt-0.13.11, sbt-assembly-0.14.5 are preferred. Before sbt-0.13.8, sbt is extremely slow. Community has resolved the problem recently by bumping up to 0.13.11.

Maybe just a bit less bluntly: right now I don't have a ton of capacity to improve Epic, especially since the field has basically moved on to a very different set of techniques. Anyway, I will probably get to this eventually, but a PR will also be merged more quickly.
