Feature: add progress bar during gather

is it possible to add some kind of progress bar or other indicator of activity during gather phases?

there is now a sort of progress indicator in the third phase and second phase of data gathering. a progress bar in the first phase is unfortunately not possible because there is no indication of how many records will be gathered during that phase
