Having Issues getting low RMS error for single camera 2d calibration

Bamifad opened this issue · comments

Hi,
I am trying to calibrate my camera for a 2d correlation analysis. However, I can't seem to get past calibration. I am using a 35mm lens with a Sony a7iv camera. Attached is an example video containing movement of the calibration target. I've done several iterations of this but I can't still get the rms error value to fall to 0.5 or less. Would appreciate help in the right direction. I have also attached my cal.log file

One thing to note about the images is that there aren't many that involve angling the target towards and away from the camera. Another (likely more important) issue could be that the opencv distortion model might not be adequately capturing the distortion from this lens, which looks to be substantial. There are some options you can set by clicking the "cal options" button to include more distortion parameters, but it may or may not help.
