Pretty Breaks

The idea here is to derive color breaks for choropleth maps that are roughly quantiles, but are also "pretty" and "nice" numbers to optimize comprehensibility of the color legend. Is this a challenge anyone has faced?
Closing as I don't this issue is actually well defined enough to be actionable. May re-open at some point!
