Elytra can't be boosted with rocket

Client version: 1.12.2
Expected behavior
Elytra can be boosted vertically using a firework rocket.
Actual behavior
No boosting. Just the gesture.
Steps to reproduce the behavior
Fly with elytra and right click with rocket in hand.
