HDFS2 connect compatibility with HDFS3 server

Just wanted to understand what is the compatibility between HDFS2 based connector with HDFS/Hive3
There is no documentation that explicitly says that there is no compatibility.
Also, given that Confluent will deprecate Java8 when Confluent 8.0.0 will be released, what is the stand of HDFS2 connectors? In the documentation it is mentioned, "Note that the HDFS connector does not support Java 11, because this version of Java is not supported in the HDFS libraries.”
Will the HDFS2 connectors be upgraded to support a later version of Java?
