New/Open Diary discards changed entry

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Modify an entry
2. Create a new diary / open a diary without first saving changes
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected - diary is changed, you cannot do this
Actual - changes discarded and diary opened
