Cannot save diary options until diary entry modified

[Google Code Exporter]

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. start with unmodified diary
2. change diary global author  
3. click save - nothing happens

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Unable to save. Should have OPTION of saving (do not force save, as may
have unwanted diary entry changes which you wanted to revert).
